At the AgeSong Institute of Elder Wellness you will be one of the warriors of the heart providing a comprehensive care program that encompasses the emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions of aging. Licensed mental health professionals, interns, and trainees work in concert with residential care facilities in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area to provide holistic care to their residents. In our innovative work with the elderly, we emphasize the aging process as a challenging and rewarding period that is often neglected not only by the individuals themselves but also by our communities and health professionals.

This Internship defines its mission through the realization of programs that support our elderly to live meaningful lives at home and/or at senior communities. Our vision is to have a community that honors and supports the soul song of elders and where our elderly and young accept each other’s experiences and wisdom as they live, age and grow.

Our goals include: Creating programs that support our elderly to live meaningful lives; Caring for conditions affecting our elderly ranging from physical to mental health and spiritual concerns; Teaching new generations of gerontologists and clinicians in caring with an increased awareness for our elderly; Researching and furthering our understanding and direct care for the various forms of Dementia; and, Building healthy communities where elders are respected for their life experience and wisdom, and where youth learn from elders in a full circle of appreciation and respect.

This exciting program is a pioneering effort that helps those younger in age unleashes their inner elder or wisdom while accompanying the elderly on their path of making sense of this phase of aging and living. We strive to understand time and aging, what time does to us, what we do to time.

PI implements its comprehensive concept of care through the specialized programs, the dementia program, memory enhancement, expressive arts program, spiritual care, and hospice support at the Pacific Institute AgeSong facilities (Hayes Valley Care and Laguna Grove Care), other facilities of assisted living in San Francisco and the Bay Area, and any other places where our services to elders is required, including their homes.
